History

Built in 1894 and abandoned in 2012, it appears to have last been occupied by Ibatex/ Charles/ WM Sowry.

The building isn't listed and plans were lodged in 2016, lapsed, and again in 2019 to turn it in to flats.

Former Pilkington HQ, St. Helens

History

The company was founded by John William Bell and five other local men in 1826 under the name St. Helens Crown Glass Company. In the early seventeenth century the introduction of coal-fired furnaces in glass-making had caused most glass-production to be in the North East of England where most of the coal mines were located.
